Being invited to a summer wedding is a treat. There is a far better chance that the weather will be good. Plus, the days are longer, so everyone can mingle outside as well as in the venue. This is especially good if you have kids. They will be able to burn off a bit of energy by playing outside with their friends.
It is also easier to put together a nice outfit. There tends to be more choice and you do not have to go to the expense of buying a matching coat. So, usually outfitting everyone for a summer wedding is far cheaper than it is for one that is held in the winter. If you are wondering what to wear to a wedding, especially a summer one, all you need to do is to read on.
Follow the theme
Not all weddings are themed, but, if the one you are attending is, try to choose an outfit that fits in. The bride and groom will really appreciate your making the extra effort to do so. Most weddings this year have been relaxed and informal due to Covid restrictions, but now we have more freedom watch out for extended wedding celebrations, luscious greenery in venues, concept lighting, destination wedding getaways (when safe!) and more eco-conscious celebrations.
A nice dress or suit
Choose a dress or suit that you feel comfortable wearing. If you already have a fabulous dress in your closet then dust it off, get it altered if needs be and enjoy! Do not force yourself to wear something just because it is trendy. If you do that you will only feel uncomfortable and not be able to relax and enjoy the day.
Try to buy something that you can wear again after the wedding. The best approach is to choose a dress or suit that is reasonably plain and use accessories to turn it into something that is special enough for a wedding.
Quality matters
You need to bear in the mind the fact that you will be wearing your outfit all day. So, you choose clothes that are made from good-quality material. Closely woven fabrics tend not to crumple as easily. As a result, they tend to hang better and continue to look good even after you have been sitting in them all day long.
Wearing luxury fabrics is a good approach. They make your outfit look and feel extra special and it is always nice to own some high-quality clothes that you can mix into your everyday wardrobe to help you look smart.
Be ready for all weathers
If you do choose to go for luxury and high-quality fabrics it is important to make sure that they are not too thick and heavy. In all likelihood the weather will be warm, so you do not want to wear anything that will make you feel too hot.
However, you do have to think about what will happen if it does rain or the sun does not shine. It makes sense to choose footwear that won´t be ruined if you have to walk across the wet grass.
Pick a handbag that can withstand all weather, is big enough to accommodate a compact umbrella and put a lightweight showerproof in the boot of your car. It is also sensible to buy a shawl or lightweight cardigan so you are prepared just in case it turns a bit chilly.
