When you’re driving along the road there is one part of your car which you are really relying on to get you from A to B in one piece; your tyres. Tyres are the vehicle’s only point of contact with the road which makes them very important for keeping you safe.
The state of your car’s tyres can influence the health of your vehicle and potentially cause problems on the road if not taken care of professionally, so going to a car care centre which is near to you is a wise thing to do be safe from road troubles such as, in my case, Point S in Kent or Surrey you can book online here.
Local centres make it easy to get tyres near your location and ultimately save you time and money. A professional will check your tyres over by looking at the following:
- Correct Tyres – A vehicle can fail its MOT test if it is found to be using the wrong tyres, they must be the correct size as specified by your vehicle handbook.
- Tyre pressure – Tyre pressures must be maintained at or within a very close tolerance of the recommended pressures. Your local tyre centre will ensure your tyres are within legal limits.
- Tyre tread depth – Tyres get worn down over time and must be replaced. By law, there must be at least 1.6mm of tread across the centre 3/4 of the width of the tread throughout the entire circumference of the tyre.
- Tyre damage – It’s easier than you think to get bumps and cuts in your tyres so it’s important to have them checked over. There must be no damage to the tyre body of the tyre including the sidewalls or tread, no bulges or cuts.
- Tyre valves – It is important that the valves on your tyres are in good condition. A professional will check that the caps are in place and that there is no evidence of cracking or damage to the valve stem.
