No one can be quite sure what the meaning of life is — and in all likelihood, no one ever will. But the pursuit of happiness seems to be as good a goal as any. If you have a happy life, then you’ll have more fun, you’ll be more willing to help others, and you’ll help to make your dreams come true. Sounds pretty good to us! Of course, wanting a happy life and actually having one can often feel like two different things. Fortunately, there are some tried and tested things that anyone can do that’ll push them towards a happier existence. Here are just a few of those things.
Moving
We were not supposed to stay seated all our lives. We’re animals, which means we have to move. Putting on the running shoes and heading outside for a jog might not always be the most appealing thing to do, but it’ll do you a world of good. Working up a sweat releases endorphins, which is otherwise known as the happy chemical. If you can start your day with a run and have a cold shower (another mood-booster), then you’ll be setting yourself up for a happy day.
Resting Well
We all know how grouchy we can be if we haven’t slept as well as we could have. While the odd sleepless night will always happen, if it’s something that goes on for too many nights, then you’ll struggle to be your best, happiest self. If you generally have difficulty sleeping, then look at making some changes. A cup of relaxing tea and taking a couple of CBD drops will both help to calm the mind and get your body ready for a night of rest. It’s also recommended to avoid caffeine in the evening and also to limit how much screen time you have before bed.
Slowing Down
You need a little bit of perspective to enjoy life. If you don’t have that, then you might not even realise when you are happy. If you’re living life at 100mph, then you may lack the clarity you need to focus on what’s right in front of you. If this sounds familiar, then consider meditating. It’s a highly effective way to slow things down and put a barrier between yourself and the mania of the outside world. It’s easy to get started, so give it a try!
Helping Others
We live in a world where we’re encouraged to help ourselves. But it turns out that helping others can often make us even happier than helping ourselves. Well, that’s what researchers have found anyway. It makes us happy to know that we’re helping other people out! So why not look at giving it a try? You don’t need to look too far to find people who need help. You could try a random act of kindness each day, or look at volunteering in your community. The whole point is to spend some time doing something for others that you do not gain from — apart from the good feelings, of course!
