The autumn tour of the spine-chilling murder mystery the Case of the Frightened Lady presented by Bill Kenwight’s The Classic Thiller Theatre Company arrives at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, on Monday 5 November with performances until Saturday 10 November.
Who doesn’t love a murder mystery? Widely recognised as the most popular writer of the early 20th century, Edgar Wallace’s gripping page-turners are regarded as the bedrock of the modern thriller.
Wallace wrote screenplays, poetry, historical non-fiction, 18 stage plays, 957 short stories, and over 170 novels, 12 in 1929 alone. More than 160 films have been made of Wallace’s work. He is remembered for the creation of King Kong, as a writer.
The Case of the Frightened Lady remains one of his most celebrated works. Adapted for film several times, this is your chance to catch this chilling, captivating and complex thriller live on stage. Inspector Tanner, played by Eastenders star John Partridge is called to investigate a ruthless murder at the grand ancestral home of the Lebanon Family.
Navigating a bloodline obsessed patriarch, a groundskeeper with a grudge and two unsettling footmen, Inspector Tanner discovers nothing is quite as it seems. As Tanner moves closer to the heart of the mystery he uncovers a shocking and closely-guarded secret…
Building on the phenomenal decade-long success of The Agatha Christie Company, which sold over two million tickets around the UK, the Classic Thriller Company has produced hits including adaptations from Ruth Rendell and Levison & Link, the writers of Murder She Wrote. Now they bring to the stage a new thrilling chapter from the legendary “King of the detective thriller”, Edgar Wallace.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the performance on the opening night, Monday 5th November.
