Whilst you may be surprised, electrical generators can commonly be found in homes all over the world. Whilst they’re a staple for the majority of businesses and organisations, why are they so popular for homes?

Backup generators permit people to keep their lights on and their houses running during blackouts as well as providing the option for you to bring power with you wherever you go and wherever you may need it. This includes camping, tailgating, or other outdoor events – when you have a generator, you have the power to do what you want to do, where you want to do it.

Take a look at our top tips to knowing about the different types of generators and what they are used for. We can help you to decide if a generator is going to be right for your home.

Power Outages and Blackouts

Power outages and blackouts can occur at any time, often at a time when you least expect it. They are more likely to happen if you live in an area with a lot of trees. Extreme weather conditions can also greatly increase the likeliness of an outage and often comes with little or no warning.

Having a source of backup power means that you can make sure that your lights stay on and all of your appliances keep running. Having a backup generator provides the peace of mind that you and your family can remain comfortable and safe during a blackout or power outage.

Outdoor parties

Having a portable generator or solar power generator can help you when it comes to organising outdoor events and parties. When it comes to hosting in your garden, it’s important that you don’t overload your household electricity, so having a portable generator to power your systems and lights is a great idea.

Outdoor Activities

The majority of recreational activities tend to take place in areas without immediate access to electricity. Having an extra source of power can help to enhance your experience as you will have the ability to run all sorts of devices. So whether you want a TV for your tailgate or a charger for your camera, a generator can help you.

When it comes to powering recreational appliances, electric generators can be used to power up all of your equipment, whether it’s a sound system or lighting, all things which would make camping and other outdoor activities much more safer and more convenient. So if your family loves adventure, investing in a portable generator is a great idea.

By buying a generator from a reputable firm, you can bring all of your home conveniences anywhere with you. Many people may love to disconnect from the world when they go camping, but if you aren’t the type who likes to go without basic amenities then camping will not sound very appealing to you.

By having a small generator, you can completely transform your camping experience. It will allow you to use an electric stove for cooking and also the ability to bring along a small refrigerator. You can also use your phone and camera without having to worry about how to charge them. A generator will also allow you to experience nature in the way that only camping can whilst keeping you comfortable along the way.

We had a generator at our wedding because it was in a tipi and it worked so well! The freedom they give to the location of an event is amazing 🙂

A generator is perfect for that sort of event out in the open. I bet you had a fab day 🙂

We’re lucky that we have some outdoors sockets (and a very small garden!) but I can see how this would be useful for bigger gardens/events!

I have to admit I’ve never thought about the need for a generator, that said I hate it when the power goes out so I could definitely do with one that just even keeps the lights on.

I’ve never thought about having a back up generator but now you’ve mentioned it I really should as I have medical equipment that needs to be stored in the fridge and if the power goes I might be in trouble.

I think they are a necessity if you live in the sticks, but have not considered having one for us

This is a great idea for those living in houses on the countryside!

I think depending on where you live, having access to a generator is a wise decision.

This is an awesome idea for houses not near main powerlines etc. But also, I actually think my Dad has one {which does NOT surprise me!} Either way, it’s a great idea!

Here in the Philippines especially if you live in one of those Island near the beach, it’s convenient to have a generator because there is a rotational brownout sometimes.

I have to admit I had never really thought about having a generator or needing one but reading your post has made me realise just how useful it could be to have one! Especially as you mentioned, for outdoor things like activities and parties!
