I know this is a little late for a Veganary post but I recently had the chance to try out the new Vegan menu from Bill’s Restaurant in Canterbury that they launched especially for the occasion.
If you didn’t know, I became a Vegan for Veganuary 2018 and have continued it on for over a year now. It is always exciting when a restaurant launches a new vegan dish or menu so I was excited to try out the one from Bill’s.
Bill’s introduced their Vegan Set Menu in January, from Monday to Friday, offering 2 courses from £11.95 or treat yourself to 3 courses for £14.95.
I was really impressed with the menu which features dishes suitable for vegetarians and vegans because it has a great range of dishes. I am used to only having one or two options on a menu so it was exciting to have more choice!
I decided to go for a started of toasted focaccia with hummus and olives which I was happy to see was a generous portion. The focaccia was delightfully toasted with a good crunch and the hummus was smooth and satisfying. It was the perfect starter.
For my main I had to go for the Moving Mountains burger; a mushroom and beetroot patty with lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo on a bun served with fries. I also opted for the additional Vegan cheese and smashed avocado because, why not?
I am always a little trepidatious when trying a new vegan burger because some arn’t that great but I was blown away by the texture and flavour of the mushroom and beetroot patty. My mum, a meat eater, tried some and actually preferred it over her beef burger!
Of course the Vega burger came with a good portion of tasty chips and I enjoyed slathering them with smashed avocado.
I really enjoyed my Vegan lunch at Bill’s Restaurant. When I asked the waitress if they would be continuing the vegan options after January she explained that they are expecting to see the best sellers on the main menu probably from around March, so that’s great news!
I award Bill’s 5 out of 5 stars for giving me a delicious animal-product free lunch.
How awesome that they are going to keep them on them menu. My cousin is a vegan so it’s always good to find new places we can meet up for a meal, going to recommend Bills to her sometime in March!
Sounds like they have a great vegan selection available! I keep meaning to visit my local Bills.
Ooh I haven’t heard of this place before, great that they have vegan choices and the set menu seems really reasonable
I’m not vegan but that food looks delicious! Great that they’re continuing with the vegan bestsellers too x
This looks delicious and certainly not what I expected a vegan meal to look like
The homous starter looks really nice, and that vegan burger doesn’t look any different from a meat one from the outside x
It’s great to see places cater more for healthier alternatives. Glad you enjoyed the texture and taste of your mushroom burger.
I’m a big fan of Bill’s and you food looks so delicious, i must go again soon! xo
I’m dairy free so really hope that this vegan range is available in the Bills nearest to me (Durham!) xxx
I’ve never been to a Bills restaurant before, but would love to give it a try.
It’s great to read that Bill’s has branched out and now caters for Vegans. Not sure I fancy anything on this menu myself, but I do really like Bill’s salmon and avocado on toast – so if I was going for brunch with a friend who’s vegan, Bill’s would be a good choice x
I’m not veggie or vegan at all but your meal looks great and under £15 for 3 courses is a snip! Mich x
