I was recently faced with a bit of a foodie dilemma. I needed to find a London restaurant for brunch which would serve food which would satisfy both my omnivore sister and friend as well as my vegan self. There are lots of vegan places in London which serve up amazing food but finding one which did both was proving difficult until I came across the Natural Kitchen.
With several locations around the city, Natural Kitchen is an all-day concept serving natural, healthy food and refreshing drinks inside their contemporary designed restaurants, bars or take away ‘food to go’ delis. Natural Kitchen has a modern world ‘A la Carte’ menu alongside an extensive salad deli with hot and cold main dish choices alongside organic coffee, freshly prepared juices and smoothies.
Natural Kitchen only uses producers & suppliers who share their passion for taste, quality, provenance and traceability. A commitment to protecting the environment is also paramount when sourcing our products and ingredients. I really appreciate this mindset. I booked a table at the St Katherine’s Dock location.
Having checked the breakfast menu online I was happy to see that they served classic brunch dishes alongside vegetarian and vegan options making it perfect for us. On arrival we ordered coffee and I was excited to see that Natural Kitchen offer organic cow’s milk: skimmed, half & half, full fat alongside soya and almond milk. I ordered a delicious warming spiced chai latte with almond milk and took in the lovely interior of modern sleek tiles combined with traditional seating and plants hanging from the ceiling!
My sister decided upon the traditional eggs Benedict for her brunch: a toasted muffin topped with British ham, crispy pancetta with hollandaise and 2 perfectly poached eggs. My friend went for the vegetarian options eggs Florentine: a toasted muffin topped with fresh spinach, sauteed mushrooms, fresh thyme with hollandaise and 2 perfectly poached eggs. Both of their dishes were meticulously presented and were devoured with gusto.
For my breakfast, I chose the NK vegan sweet potato cake with hemp, lentils, oats and pumpkin seeds topped with a homemade guacamole, baby spinach leaves & fresh chilli. Now you might think that having a potato cake for breakfast might be an odd choice but I actually really love savoury breakfasts so this was perfect for me. The cake itself was comforting and full of lentils and oats giving it a great texture. The guacamole made the perfect accompaniment with its creaminess complimenting the other flavours and textures on the dish.
We really enjoyed our brunch at Natural Kitchen. The atmosphere was friendly and casual, the interior lovely and the food was flavourful and comforting which was just what you want for a Sunday brunch. I certainly recommend a visit to anyone looking for healthier, vegan-friendly breakfast options alongside traditional brunch fare. I award Natural Kitchen St Katherine’s Dock 5 out of 5 stars and look forward to returning!
