I recently enjoyed a week on the Norfolk Broads with my family and in my upcoming post Things to Do on the Norfolk Broads part 2 I mention Wroxham Barns an award-winning visitor attraction made up of local businesses.
The Barns also offers refreshment via their Coffee Shop and Restaurant (Awarded the Gold Standard Broads Quality Charter by VisitEngland) which serve wholesome dishes and afternoon teas.
The Restaurant and Coffee Shop source the finest ingredients from trusted suppliers preferring seasonal, local products where possible. The menu includes gluten-free and vegetarian options (which can be made vegan with a few small tweaks).
There are plenty of options on the menu from sandwiches and ciabattas to cherry tomato and mushroom penne pasta, baked potatoes, burgers and salads.
I decided to go for the vegetarian-friendly mushroom burger which comes with chilli jam, tomato, baby gem and red onion, with Red Cabbage Coleslaw (not vegan so I didn’t have any) and seasoned wedges. My sister ordered the beef version of the burger.
My husband ordered grilled halibut made with herb crushed new potatoes, wilted spinach, roast cherry tomatoes and salsa verde. My dad went for the sausages and mash which comes with 3 Norfolk Sausages served on buttery mash with seasonal vegetables and onion & ‘Wherry’ gravy.
I really enjoyed my mushroom burger which was fresh and tasty. I was blown away by the amazing potato wedges which appeared to be a baked potato sliced up into a super generous portion of chunky wedges.
My family were also very happy with their dishes and the service was friendly and timely. I would certainly recommend the Restaurant at Wroxham Barns for anyone looking for a great lunch spot and award it 4 out of 5 stars. It would be 5 stars if they offered vegan dishes.
That food looks amazing x
